UCSF Bike Bus — Thursday Morning Commute Ride
Weekly Thursday group ride to UCSF Mission Bay in San Francisco. Casual pace, beginner-friendly, two start points: Ferry Building or the Wiggle. All welcome.
The vibe
Peace, ride, love, community
The UCSF Bike Bus runs under a simple banner: Peace. Ride. Love. Community. It’s a Thursday morning group commute ride to UCSF Mission Bay, organized by the SF Bicycle Coalition and open to everyone — not just UCSF staff or affiliates. Two starting points offer flexibility: the Ferry Building at Embarcadero (meet 8:15, roll 8:30) and the Wiggle at Page and Scott (meet 8:00, roll 8:15). The route is designed to be safe and direct.
The ride ends at Philz Coffee next to Chase Center, arriving around 8:45 AM — which means you can ride to work (or to the coffee shop) while the group is doing the same thing. The Bike Bus format normalizes cycling as transportation rather than sport, and the consistent Thursday schedule builds community among riders who keep showing up.
The coalition-backed route follows one of the safer Mission Bay approaches, making it genuinely beginner-accessible. If you’ve been thinking about commuting by bike but aren’t sure how to route it through SF’s hills, this is a chance to see how other people do it without figuring it out alone. Check sfbike.org for any seasonal schedule changes.
