Women & Non-Binary Friday Morning Ride
San Francisco's casual women and non-binary group ride through Golden Gate Park every 2nd and 4th Friday. Social pace, all levels welcome.
The vibe
Pedaling solidarity, social speed
Twice a month, women and non-binary cyclists gather at McLaren Lodge — right at the edge of Golden Gate Park — for a morning ride that’s deliberately unhurried. Roll call is at 7:15, wheels spin at 7:30 sharp, and the pace is set by the group rather than the fastest person in it. The whole point is to ride together, not to train.
The SF Bicycle Coalition started this ride to build community for cyclists who sometimes feel like outsiders in the testosterone-heavy group ride culture. It shows. You’ll find a mix of commuters, weekend explorers, and brand-new riders who just needed the right group to get started. No one gets dropped, and no one is judged for their bike or their speed.
Golden Gate Park as a starting point means the scenery is doing a lot of work — depending on the day’s route you might wind through Panhandle paths, catch the ocean view past the windmills, or loop back through the rose garden. First-timers are welcome and don’t need to register in advance; just show up at McLaren Lodge before 7:30 with a helmet and a bike.
