The Rexy closes out the gravel season with the biggest number on the calendar: 200 miles, one direction, from Fruita, Colorado all the way to Moab, Utah. This is ultra-distance territory, and the high-desert terrain doesn’t let up — remote dirt roads, big temperature swings, and long stretches where the next aid station is the only thing to plan around.
Point-to-point races demand more logistics than a loop course — riders need a plan for getting back to their car, not just getting to the finish. That extra layer of planning is part of what keeps the field self-selecting for riders who’ve done ultra-distance gravel before, or at least trained specifically for it.
Finishing The Rexy on Halloween weekend is its own kind of reward: a fitting, fittingly absurd way to put the season to bed before winter takes the desert roads back.
