Thursday Holy Cow Descending
Weekly Thursday hammer ride out of Golden — 35 miles and 4,000 ft of climbing, fast ascents, ripping descents, post-ride beers at Mountain Toad Brewing.
The vibe
Suffer up, shred down
Thursday evenings in Golden belong to this ride. Meeting at Mountain Toad Brewing, the group rolls out and immediately starts hunting climbing — approximately 35 miles with 4,000 feet of elevation gain packed into a weeknight. The front group targets the Lookout climb in 20–24 minutes. Then the descent opens up. This is a drop ride, no ambiguity about it.
There’s an A route and a B route, with details posted beforehand on the Holy Cow Racing Strava Club. A riders push the full aggressive effort; B riders get a harder workout than most weekend rides. Either way, you’re back at Mountain Toad in time for a well-earned pint before the sun is fully down.
First-timers should know their fitness before showing up — if you can hold 18+ mph on rolling terrain, you’ll have a great time. If not, the B route is still solid. Bring lights for the return descent regardless of start time, and follow the Strava club for week-to-week route updates.
