The vibe

Neighborhood slow roll, local love

Wayward in Hayward is what happens when a committed local cyclist decides his city deserves a better ride scene. Alejandro Jasso, the 2026 Alameda County Bike Champion, organized this monthly community ride through Bike Hayward as an accessible, neighborhood-scale way to bring people together around cycling. Every third Wednesday, 6:30 to 9 PM, from Hayward City Hall Plaza.

The ride runs about an hour, covering flat terrain through Hayward neighborhoods at a pace that invites conversation and includes everyone — newcomers, families, commuters, people who haven’t ridden in years. The destination rotates: sometimes a local restaurant, sometimes a park, always somewhere with enough reason to linger after the ride. It’s a deliberate effort to build the kind of cycling culture that makes a city more livable.

Free and open to all abilities. No RSVP needed. Just show up at City Hall Plaza on the third Wednesday and follow along — Hayward’s streets are better with company.
