Wet Hot American Bummer Alleycat Race
Austin's messenger-style alleycat race during Bike Month — a checkpoint scavenger race by bike through the city with on-site manifest pickup.
The vibe
Checkpoint chaos, messenger style
Alleycat races borrow their format from bike messengers — no fixed course, just a list of checkpoints (the “manifest”) that riders have to hit in whatever order and route they think is fastest. Wet Hot American Bummer is Austin’s version, run every May as part of Bike Month ATX.
Registration opens an hour before the start, manifests go out 30 minutes later, and then it’s every rider for themselves navigating Austin traffic and their own route logic. It rewards street smarts as much as speed — knowing the shortcuts matters more than raw power.
