Wild West is Rattler Racing’s signature late-season CX event, and the course at Jefferson County Fairgrounds is built for drama: multiple stair climbs, a section that runs straight through the barns, and enough off-camber misery to separate the state champions from everyone else. It’s demanding, it’s loud, and the atmosphere is pure Colorado cyclocross.
The Jeffco Fairgrounds venue is central — accessible from Denver, Boulder, and Colorado Springs without destroying your morning. The course favors technical riders over pure power, which means you’ll see huge swings in field position on every lap. Whether you’re racing for the state jersey or just want to experience one of Colorado’s best CX events, Wild West is worth the effort.
Rattler Racing runs this venue as a non-alcohol event on race day, so pre-hydrate with something other than a craft beer. Arrive early to pre-ride the course — the barn section requires a walk-through before you’ll trust it at race pace. Full race categories from Cat 4 novice to Pro/1.
